This is 1939 Slingerland Bandmaster Radio King snare drum finished in original White Marine Pearl. The drum has a gorgeous three ply mahogany shell. An internal heater was installed years ago involving two tiny screws above the badge and a grommet and vent hole in which the electric cord would have passed through. The device was removed, leaving the extra vent hole and brass grommet. With a drum this large, an extra vent hole is a good thing. Note the early Harold R. Todd green single pad tone control.

The original brass cloud badge was destroyed long ago and a correct badge and grommet were carefully installed. The Radio King “engraved”  (stamped) hoop is worn with some brass showing. The Radio King extension brackets have complete and functional adjustment screws and extended wire snares. All parts are original with the exceptions mentioned. This deep shell Bandmaster Radio King drum is a real “monster” and sounds just like it looks….HUGE!

In 1936, the drum was called the “Bernie Mattison” model. By 1937, the name was changed to the Bandmaster.
