1930 Leedy “Black Elite” Broadway Standard Model

This amazing 1930 Leedy Black Elite was found with its black finish totally removed down to the bare brass. The throw-off was also missing. Mr. Kirchler fashioned an exact and perfect reproduction of Leedy’s Speedway strainer from raw brass to complete the drum. The drum received an era correct black nickel plating and so called “Knobby Gold” hardware treatment. Note that the original engraving was treated so that the brass shows through the black nickel.

1928 Slingerland “Black Beauty” Artist Model

This 1928 Slingerland Artist model snare drum was discovered with most of its parts missing. The solid brass shell originally had a nickel plated finish with the words, “Slingerland USA” engraved in the shell. After all of the correct parts were located, the shell was hand engraved by Adrian Kirchler with the exact authentic pattern that Slingerland used in the late 1920’s. A correct black plating was applied to the shell, along with “Artgold” plating on the hardware.

1929-30 Ludwig & Ludwig “Deluxe Standard-Sensitive Model Model

This 1929-30 Ludwig & Ludwig Standard Sensitive snare drum surfaced in very poor condition. Its original “Ludwigold” textured finish had been removed to the bare brass. It had an incorrect throw-off, as well as other non original parts. Miraculously, the interior top snare wire unit was completely intact and functional. Many drummers removed these top snares in later years. The shell received a black nickel finish and an original hand engraving pattern. All hardware was plated in “Deluxe” imitation gold plating which was offered on Ludwig drums at that time.

1929 Slingerland 5x14 Artist Model with Tone Flange – Lavender Pearl

This is one of the most rare finishes ever produced. Here we have a 1929 Slingerland Artist Model equipped with a Tone Flange. All hardware is Artgold plated. Solid mahogany shell. On Tone Flange models, the top bearing edge is completely flat with wood screws installed. On top of the screws, a brass ring sits with the brass tone flange on top of the ring. The batter head fits on thew top of the flange. One screw is missing and some of the screw holes were filled with epoxy to stregthen the bearing edge. Because the Tone Flange fits over the edge, the repairs are not visible. Due to the very sharp edge of the flange, often the finish is severly damaged. This drum has only minor damage. There are scratches in the finish near the badge, as well as some scrapes and scratches. Most Lavender pearl is notorious for fading and surviving examples have an almost “gray” color. Years ago, someone painted this drum shell with black paint. Miraculously, the black paint preserved the finish and the Lavender is extremely vibrant. Note the HEAVY brass double flanged hoops. These were an exclusive Slingerland design from 1928 until 1935.
