1942 Slingerland "ROLLING BOMBER" drum set

During World War Two, the U.S. Government imposed restrictions on the manufacture of non-essential items. Drums made during that period had to be comprised of only 10% metal. As a result of these restrictions, the Slingerland Company produced a limited amount of snare drums and drum sets with rosewood or walnut lugs, maple hoops and even rosewood snare strainers. These "Rolling Bomber" drums are quite beautiful, with their hand carved wooden parts and pearl coverings. The sound of these drums is extremely warm and resonant. This drum set can be used with plastic or calf heads. NOTE: The 16X16 floor tom originally had a painted finish. The drum was professionally re-covered with very, very old White Marine Pearl that was imported from Germany.
